Have you ever talked to someone and just know their mind is somewhere else? Words are coming out of their mouth, they’re sitting or standing right in front of you looking directly at you, yet they’re not really there?
Or maybe you’ve found yourself guilty of doing the same at one point or another.
Sometimes we have so much going on that we drag our bodies where we think they need to be, where other people expect them to be, but our minds are left elsewhere or have already jumped into the next activity - pre-planning, pre-organizing, pre-everything.
Today, challenge yourself to be fully present exclusively in the here and now. Don’t worry about anything that already happened. Don’t worry about anything that hasn’t happened.
Just be in the moment.
Pay attention to the person in front of you.
Listen to what they’re saying.
Focus on the work at hand, just this piece of the puzzle, not interrupted by what’s next.
Dedicate this hour, this minute, this second to where you are and who you’re with.
Everything else can wait.
Everything else will get the attention they need in their own time.
And you’ll begin to notice that the world of distractions you used to live in now feels a little less stressful, all because you’ve allowed yourself a moment’s peace.
"Unease, anxiety, tension, stress, worry - all forms of fear - are caused by too much future, and not enough presence.”
- Eckhart Tolle
